ARPH Dogs

ARPH, Inc. strives to place our dogs with loving owners that are willing to commit their lives to the dog's training and well being. Only those applicants that can meet the financial, physical, and mental needs of a dog for 10-15 years should consider adopting an Aussie.
We will consider out of state applications; however, we require all potential adopters to travel to meet our dogs. This is not a "first come, first served" process and all applications will be considered for each dog. While an applicant may feel that a certain Aussie is perfect for their family, our foster homes know the dogs best and their impressions will play an integral part in which home a dog is placed in.
The standard adoption fee is $200. However, that may vary depending on the particular dog, location, situation, etc. The adoption fee includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and maintenance of monthly medication to prevent Heartworm disease. Our adoption fee for puppies not yet spayed or neutered is $200.00 with $50 being refunded to the adopter when this procedure is performed. All puppies are up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and maintained on monthly heartworm medication. All puppies are adopted on a spay/neuter contract (strictly enforced), and this procedure must be performed by the age of 6 months. For the safety of our dogs, we will not ship them out of state.

An adoption application must be completed prior to inquiring about dogs.

Dutchess

dutchessdutchessdutchessdutchess
Meet Dutchess (ARPH #9084) a sweet, little, 4 year old, blue merle aussie that has had a rough start. She was found as a stray in South Carolina with what we believe is her son, Duke. She was very skinny (as you can see from her pictures) and was diagnosed with heartworm disease. She has since been treated for heartworms and now needs to have surgery on both of her knees. Dutchess has luxating patellas, check out http://vetsurgerycentral.com/patella.htm to read more about this condition. We need to fix each of her knees one at a time, so Dutchess is going to have several months of recovery ahead of her. Even though Dutchess has had such a difficult time at the beginning, she still maintains a loving, warm personality. She gets along with everyone and everything and she has really won her foster mom over.
We need to raise funds for Duchess's knee surgeries, so if you would like to sponsor Dutchess please Donate. Make sure that you specify that you are donating for Dutchess #9084. A special thank you to Rachael Eley, Sheley Reavis, Mark Silverstein, Donna Fowler, Anna Lore, Janet E. Ward (in memory of Ward's Bister Blazing Star (a.k.a. Blaze)), Kellen Meadows & Michael Stack, George and April Hakim (in memory of Mesa), and Bill & Diane Young & Xander #6750 for their generous donations. Any donations that exceed the amount required to care for this dog will be put into the ARPH general fund to help other Aussies in need.

UPDATE: Dutchess had surgery today (2/14/2007) and is doing wonderfully.

UPDATE: Duchess' knee slipped out of place and had to have another surgery this week. We need to raise more funds for this surgery. Thank you to everyone that sponsored her.

Riley

rileyrileyriley
Say hello to Riley (ARPH # 9567), a handsome 2 year old, black bi, neutered male Aussie with chocolate brown eyes. Riley's pictures do not do him justice; he has a beautiful wavy, curly black coat and an "upside down" blaze of white that extends from his upper lip all the way down his chest. Riley came into rescue from a shelter situation. He was picked up as a stray and when the owners were notified they refused to come get Riley. He had to sit at the shelter for the requisite 21 days before he could be released to rescue. In spite of his ordeal and long wait, Riley has maintained his joyful spirit. This is a dog that will take every bit of devotion you can give and return it to you ten-fold.
Riley has been very busy learning all kinds of new things. It was apparent when he came into foster care that he had never been leash-walked before. After only seven days at his new foster home, he walks well on a leash with only the occasional skip-hop-jump to show how much he is enjoying himself. He does like to stretch up to "give hugs" and is trying very hard to learn to sit when you approach him, which he will do if reminded, and then gets so excited he does a little "tap dance" with his front feet. Riley is also working hard on his house-training and crate-training. He loves his meal times and will "sit" and "wait" for his bowl. Riley has been very good with his foster brothers and sister, but he would probably do best in a home with submissive dogs, since he tends to want to be in charge. He can not resist the urge to chase the cats, so he needs to go to a cat free home. He does not play yet, but we are sure that is just one more thing that he will catch onto very quickly. This boy has been waiting a long time, far longer than 21 days, for someone to come along and engage his mind and heart. He revels in affection of any sort, from head scrubs to belly rubs, and everything in between. He is a medium energy dog that can adjust to your needs, as long as he can be by your side.
Riley is currently on medical hold while undergoing treatment for heartworm. If you are an approved adopter, and would like to help this loving boy start "living the life of Riley", please contact Jeremi Clark at 919-618-8878 or jeremi.clark@gmail.com. If you would like to sponsor Riley please Donate. A special thank you to Laura Lankford for her generous donation. Any donations that exceed the amount required to care for this dog will be put into the ARPH general fund to help other Aussies in need.

Bacardi

BacardiBacardiBacardiBacardi
Bacardi (ARPH # 9551) is a handsome young red tri male. He is neutered, fully vetted and on heartworm prevention. Bacardi is between 1-2 years old. He is a boy who was found in the streets of Savannah, GA by Animal Control and made his way to our rescue. It is obvious that he was once someone's pet, he knows several basic commands such as sit, down, stay (only for a couple of minutes!) and walks great on a lead. Bacardi also is well mannered in the house. Bacardi needs a home where he will have other dogs to play with, he enjoys them (both male and female) and loves to have room to run and roughhouse with. He sticks to his people like glue and loves to be with his foster mom, he follows her from room to room and adores getting attention from her. He loves to run in the yard and chase the squirrels in the trees. He is a quick dog and loves to run and has lots of energy so he will require a home where he will get plenty of exercise. He also needs a home with out cats, he does like to chase them. He is a loveable boy who give lots of kisses and has a lot of love to give to his new family. If you are interested in Bacardi and you are an approved adopter, you can contact Jeremi Clark at 919-618-8878 or jeremi.clark@gmail.com. If you would like to sponsor Bacardi please Donate. Any donations that exceed the amount required to care for this dog will be put into the ARPH general fund to help other Aussies in need.

Stevie

StevieStevieStevieStevie
Stevie (ARPH # 9644) is a mid size, 3 year old, red merle male aussie with the disposition of a young puppy with a lot of energy. Stevie is well mannered although would benefit from training, as any other dog. He is very good with other dogs and cats. Stevie is very friendly with people and will snuggle with you any time. Stevie is a lethal merle (don't worry it will not kill him) which means that both his mom and dad were merled Australian Shepherds. You can read about this at http://www.lethalwhites.com/doublemerle.html. Stevie is very slightly blind and very slightly deaf but it is not obvious to the general public. He acts normally but has microphthalmia in one of his eyes. Stevie came to rescue after spending time on a chain. Luckily for Stevie, animal control took him and saved him, unfortunately the other dog on the property had already starved to death. Stevie weighs 28 lbs right now but will eventually be 40-45lbs. Despite his rough start he has a great disposition, he listens well and has shown some interesting in learning. Stevie learned the house routine very well, he also likes to lay by your feet and he loves the sun. He is playful with his foster sister and brother and he is very outgoing. Stevie was exposed to children and did very well, however he should be supervised since he can be little rambuctious sometimes. When Stevie is excited he likes to grab his foster mom's sleeves to get her attention. Stevie also likes to grab the leashes of other dogs and lead them on their walks. Stevie is house broken and loves to be with his people. Do not let his condition (lethal white) fool you, he is not handycap, his sight and hearing are good allowing him to have a normal life. Stevie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention, and on flea/tick prevention. If you are interested in Stevie and you are an approved adopter, you can contact Jeremi Clark at 919-618-8878 or jeremi.clark@gmail.com. If you would like to sponsor Stevie please Donate. Any donations that exceed the amount required to care for this dog will be put into the ARPH general fund to help other Aussies in need.

Cody

Codycodycodycody
Cody (APRH #9565) is a 15 month old blue merle, neutered male aussie. Cody is a tall, lovey boy. He is very easy going and loves to play with his foster brothers and sisters. He plays well during the day and then likes to cuddle on the couch in the evening. At bedtime, he goes to his foster dad's side of the bed for some last petting and snuggles, then settles in for the night. Cody is good with cats, he will follow them around, but he has not hurt them. He knows how to wait to be allowed to eat after his bowl is put in front of him. Cody needs an owner that has aussie experience and can give him the boundaries all dogs need. Cody sometimes thinks he is the boss and needs an owner that will help him remember his place in the pack. If you an approved adopter and would like more information on Cody please contact Jeremi Clark at jeremi.clark@gmail.com. If you would like to sponsor Cody please Donate. Any donations that exceed the amount required to care for this dog will be put into the ARPH general fund to help other Aussies in need.

Dundee

dundeedundeedundee
Dundee (ARPH#9649) is a ~18 month old, neutered male with a docked tail. Dundee was found as a stray and made his way to his APRH foster home. Dundee gets along well with all dogs, both male and female, as well as cats. There are no children in Dundee’s foster home but we were told by the lady who ‘rescued’ Dundee from his life on the streets that he is good with kids. Everyone, who has had the good fortune to meet Dundee, absolutely adores him because he is loaded with personality. Dundee is full of ‘antics’ to entertain both his canine buddies as well as his ‘people’. Dundee enjoys playing with balls, tug toys and squeak toys but he has never confused his toys with his foster mom’s things. He is also house broken and crate trained. Dundee shows no livestock drive so he is also well suited for life around farm animals. Dundee is up to date on vaccinations and has just completed heartworm treatment so his physical activity must be strictly controlled for two weeks (until March 29) and then be slowly increased to a normal level. If you an approved adopter and would like more information on Dundee please contact Jeremi Clark at jeremi.clark@gmail.com. If you would like to sponsor Dundee please Donate. Any donations that exceed the amount required to care for this dog will be put into the ARPH general fund to help other Aussies in need.
